Having studied jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Dave Bell is rapidly establishing himself as one of Sydney’s most versatile saxophonists. Feeling at home playing jazz, funk, rock or pop, you can be sure that Dave will get the job done.
Dave has played with some of Sydney’s most established acts, including The Enormous Horns, The Wonderbrass and Monica Trapaga, performing around the country at venues, such as The Forum (Melbourne), The Arena (Brisbane), and Sydney’s The Metro Theatre. He has also supported notable artists such as David Campbell, James Reyne, The Choirboys and Leo Sayer, as part these groups. Dave has also performed on Mornings with Kerri-Anne with The Velvet Set, another of his bands.
As musical director of both The Velvet Set and The Wonderbrass, Dave has acquired a unique and sort after set of skills as both an arranger and band leader. He has studied with respected figures in the music scene, such as Dale Barlow, Col Loughnan, Mike Nock and Dave Panichi. Familiar with not only the saxophone family, Dave is also a capable doubler, playing flute, clarinet and piano.
